In the interest of the public's safety and our entire team, we have also implemented new digital/virtual estimate, inspection, consultation, and appointment services to respect all social distancing protocols and limit in-person contact to the maximum extent possible.
We are implementing many of these vital practices and procedures to aid in the minimization of the spread of COVID-19, and ensure the safety of our customers, our employees, and all of our loved ones. Please know that we are confident in our ability to continue to serve you safely and to abide by all OSHA guidelines as well as local and/or state public health policies. We will also continue to analyze and monitor requirements and recommendations made by local, state, and federal agencies to ensure all operations are handled appropriately and according to the law.
Examples of some of the important preventative measures, protocols, procedures, and practices we are using include, but are not limited to, the following:
Virtual Consultations: We understand many people still prefer face-to-face communication; however, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to ensure that most of our communication can be completed virtually using a phone, tablet, or computer and video on digital platforms like Zoom. If we must be physically present for any reason, social distancing, face masks, gloves, and other protective gear and protocols will be strictly practiced and enforced.
Distancing & Hygiene: All employees and team members have been trained to uphold social distancing guidelines of at least 6ft, and safe hygiene practices under the requirements of OSHA and the guidance of the CDC and WOH.
PPE: Our field technicians and job site supervisors are equipped with the proper equipment, including protective face masks and gloves, or other required personal protective equipment (PPE) as per OSHA recommendations.
Digital Proposals & Documents: Your proposal and/or any necessary documents can be reviewed, delivered, and even signed electronically online or over the phone, limiting the need to meet and any in-person contact.
Continuous UpdatesWe will continuously stay informed about this pandemic and implement the necessary OSHA or CDC safety guidelines that pertain to our industry as new information develops.
For specific details on the protocols, practices, and procedures we have currently implemented, please see the information below. Low Risk: Our installations are low risk in exposure per OSHA’s
Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19 while working
Outside and have no physical direct contact with customers.
Continuous Site-Specific Updates: We maintain a continuously updated site-specific health and safety plan to address all COVID-19-related issues.
Strong Restrictions: Field technicians and supervisors are prohibited from reporting to work and/or the job site if they are experiencing any symptoms or if they have been exposed to COVID-19 in any capacity.
Relevant Signage: Signage is posted at each entrance to the job site to inform all employees and vendors that if they feel sick or they develop a cough, they must LEAVE THE SITE IMMEDIATELY. When approaching the project and/or entering the site/facility, employees must maintain a minimum six-foot distance from one another to the extent possible; If they develop illness on-site (before exit), they must sneeze and cough into a cloth or tissue or, if not available, into one’s elbow; they must not shake hands or engage in any unnecessary physical contact.
Social Distancing: All employees have been instructed to maintain at least six feet of distance from one another as well as from vendors, with the exception of employees who may momentarily come closer when necessary (with protective gear) to transfer tools, construction materials, or equipment, or as otherwise required.
Virtual Communication: All employees have been encouraged to communicate with customers via phone or text. When necessary to meet in person, the proper distancing and protective gear are required.
OSHA/CDC Specific Practices: All Scudder employees follow OSHA/CDC-specific hygiene practices, including frequent hand washing for at least 20 seconds, cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces, and avoiding unnecessary personal contact.
Daily Tailgate Sessions: We provide a daily tailgate session reviewing site protocols to mitigate the virus's potential spread. As information changes continuously regarding COVID-19, these tailgates occur daily, and contractors document attendance and require worker signatures.
Designated Safety Rep: We provide a designated site safety rep (SSR) who provides spot site checks to monitor and implement the recommended safety practices regarding the COVID-19 virus with our field staff members. Labor supervisors have the authority, through consultation with the SSR, to halt all activities that do not adhere to COVID-19 safety practices and discipline and terminate employees not following the correct protocols. The SSR has training commensurate with this hazard and the required industrial hygiene practices required on the job site. The SSR is responsible for maintaining disinfectant supplies and ensuring that workers follow decontamination, hand washing, distancing, and PPE rules.
Task-Specific PPE: We have an established PPE level required for each specific task on our job sites. This is especially important for tasks requiring staff to work inside the recommended social distancing zone. We also employ a task job hazard analysis (JHA) that can be provided upon request.
Decontamination PPE: We provide specific personal protective equipment (PPE) to any employees assigned to cleaning/disinfecting tasks.
Safety Guidelines: For work sites where multiple employers/trades share the same workspace, we inform all employers about each site-specific COVID-19 construction field safety guideline. Where one contractor enters the space of another contractor, the most stringent guidelines will be followed.
Disinfectant Data: We provide hand sanitizer and maintain Safety Data Sheets of all disinfectants used on site.
Trash Collection: Any trash collected from the job site must be changed frequently by someone wearing gloves.
Tool Disinfection: We ensure that all tools are wiped with disinfectant when transferred to another employee and that equipment common touch areas are disinfected upon operator change.
Established Deep Cleaning:We regularly clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and toilets. We have established deep cleaning schedules on job sites to address exposed surfaces.
Entry & Exit Cleaning: We have established a cleaning protocol before entry and exit of the job site and within the job site area.
Cleaning & Washing Stations: Where applicable, we provide cleaning and/or handwashing stations within the work areas. The stations are sufficient to allow any field staff member to remain within the work areas without exiting into break areas. These stations are adequately and continuously maintained.
